Jones Day serves as outside global trademark counsel to Wikimedia Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization that operates some of the world's largest collaboratively edited reference projects, including Wikipedia®, a free-content, online encyclopedia. Our comprehensive work for Wikimedia spans a variety of trademark, open source technology, and domain name matters, including prosecution, oppositions, and enforcement of Wikimedia's numerous brands. Since 2013, we have assisted Wikimedia with doubling its trademark portfolio to over 2,600 trademark files in over 120 jurisdictions worldwide. We have also worked in partnership with Wikimedia's legal team to develop innovative and highly effective domain name, mobile application, and social media enforcement programs.
