Ashley Heintz and Mary Alexander Myers named to The Daily Report's 2023 "On the Rise" list
The Daily Report has selected Ashley Heintz and Mary Alexander Myers, two partners in our Atlanta Office, for its 2023 Southeastern Legal Awards "On the Rise" list.
Ms. Heintz is a partner in the Securities Litigation & SEC Enforcement Practice. Her practice is focused on high-stakes and high-profile securities fraud and shareholder litigation. Most prominently, she handled the highly-publicized appraisal dispute in Delaware Chancery Court for an Atlanta-based consumer goods company through trial and appeal to secure a landmark victory that shapes future appraisal litigation. Over the last several years, she defended two Georgia-based companies and certain of their officers and directors in securities class actions, utilizing cutting-edge arguments only attempted in a handful of cases around the country based on a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision. These matters, among others, led to her being named one of the top seven securities litigators in the country under 40 years old by Law360 in 2021.
Ms. Heintz currently serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Georgia School of Law, where she teaches Securities Litigation & Enforcement. She serves as a member of the Advisory Committee of the Women in Securities Litigation Network and on the Board of the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation (AVLF), for which she also volunteers and annually manages dozens of landlord-tenant cases. Ms. Heintz has also led the Firm's partnership with AVLF on several initiatives.
Ms. Myers is a partner in the Cybersecurity, Privacy & Data Protection Practice. She works closely with clients on a range of strategic technology transactions and cybersecurity and data privacy matters focused on protecting key intellectual property and data assets. She is currently leading a project to develop a regulated fintech platform to expand the ability to trade sustainable financial products. She develops and leads privacy programs that help clients comply with challenging data protection laws. Ms. Myers also serves on the Executive Committee for the Privacy and Technology Section of the State Bar of Georgia.
Ms. Myers is heavily involved in pro bono work in the Atlanta metropolitan area. She is focused on issues with equity in public schools and has represented students in the juvenile justice system. She has served on the Board of Directors for the Truancy Intervention Project for six years. She has also applied her insights on data privacy and "big data" to assist nonprofits focused on using data to fight human trafficking.
The Southeastern Legal Awards, formerly known as the Georgia Legal Awards before expanding in 2023, honors lawyers "who have left an indelible mark on the legal community in the southeast and beyond." On the Rise honors lawyers under the age of 40 who are "innovators, developing unique practice niches, amassing robust books of business, demonstrating strong leadership qualities, showing expertise in litigation or transactional work, and committing themselves to pro bono, charitable and professional volunteer work."
