Jones Day's Edward Patrick Swan, Jr. named Volunteer of the Year by the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program

Edward Patrick (Pat) Swan, Jr., of counsel in Jones Day's Business & Tort Litigation Practice, was named Volunteer of the Year by the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program (SDVLP). He was honored for representing a domestic violence victim in a very difficult case and obtaining a five-year restraining order for her, and for his decades of service to the organization. SDVLP's mission is to provide equal access to the justice system by serving as a bridge between indigent and other disadvantaged people in San Diego County and the volunteer lawyers and others who are willing to donate their time and resources.

Mr. Swan's practice focuses on the representation of clients in commercial litigation and white collar matters. Currently he is the lead lawyer in several complex commercial disputes, and represents clients in a number of ongoing government investigations involving allegations of civil and/or criminal wrongdoing.

Mr. Swan has contributed to the profession and the community in various roles, including as Director and Vice President of the San Diego County Bar Association, President of the San Diego Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, and President of the San Diego County Bar Foundation. Currently, he is a Master of the Welsh Inn of Court; Director and Vice President for Pro Kids, First Tee of San Diego; Executive Committee Member of the Rolf Benirschke Legacy Foundation; Director of the San Diego County Bar Foundation; and Director and incoming Treasurer for Voices for Children. Mr. Swan recently received the Hon. David H. Bartick Award for Civility and Professionalism from the United States District Court for the Southern District of California.
