Jones Day's Miguel Alvarez named a San Diego Business Journal "Latino of Influence"
Miguel Alvarez was named to the San Diego Business Journal's 2024 "Latino of Influence" list. The list honors Latino professionals for their contributions to the community and commitment to their profession.
Mr. Alvarez is an associate in the Intellectual Property Practice. With his background as a molecular and cell biology scientist, his practice focuses on the representation of pharmaceutical and biotech companies in patent disputes. He is also committed to pro bono efforts to assist migrants detained at the border.
He has experience guiding clients through the life cycle of patent cases, including a recent jury trial resulting in a significant win for a pharmaceutical company. Before becoming a lawyer, Mr. Alvarez worked as a scientist for a San Diego-based biotech company where he led R&D for multiple antibody reagents. As a member of Jones Day's global Intellectual Property Practice, he is one of more than 220 professionals who apply technology prowess in order to win litigations, strengthen IP portfolios, close technology-driven transactions, and navigate risk across the Firm's clients' full range of IP legal needs.
Through Jones Day's Laredo Project, a pro bono initiative, Mr. Alvarez also recently prepared multiple Latin American refugees for credible fear interviews and provided case assessments to several detained migrants.
