Chevron successfully settles dispute in connection with hydrogen production facility in El Segundo, California

Client(s) Chevron Corporation

Jones Day represented Chevron Corporation in a dispute with Air Liquide concerning the design, construction and operation of a hydrogen production facility at Chevron's refinery in El Segundo, California. The disputes involved force majeure issues, adequacy of design, and penalties under performance and reliability guarantees. AAA arbitration was initiated as well as collateral litigation prior to mediation. The disputes were successfully resolved in the mediation with a settlement requiring payments to Chevron totaling $6 million.
