Leading French automotive manufacturer obtains ICC award against Korean company for breach of joint venture agreement

Client(s) Leading French automotive manufacturer

Jones Day obtained an ICC award issued in Tokyo for a leading French automotive manufacturer against a Korean company for breach of a joint venture agreement and misappropriation of know-how. The Arbitral Tribunal seated in Tokyo awarded damages and arbitration costs to be paid by the Korean company to the French company, ordered the Korean company to stop the production of automotive parts and requested compliance with a non compete obligation for a three-year period. The Arbitral Tribunal further dismissed all claims filed by the Korean company.
