HP obtains writ of mandamus in patent litigation

On behalf of HP Inc., Jones Day obtained a rare writ of mandamus from the Federal Circuit ordering Judge Schroeder from the Eastern District of Texas to transfer a patent litigation involving Google Chrome products to the Northern District of California. The Federal Circuit’s decision provides an important blueprint for cases involving customer-supplier scenarios where a customer seeks to transfer a case to the venue where its supplier is based.
