Salvadoran refugee obtains asylum
Client(s) G. C.
Jones Day obtained asylum for our client, a young Pentecostal Salvadoran woman who fled El Salvador to the United States in 2017 due to severe persecution. In 2018, Jones Day submitted an application for asylum, withholding of removal, and relief under the Convention Against Torture on her behalf. Jones Day then represented the client at her hearing before an Immigration Judge in Virginia in December 2022. The Immigration Judge granted asylum, and the Department of Homeland Security waived appeal, allowing her to lawfully remain in the United States indefinitely without fear of being returned to her persecutors in El Salvador.
