Jones Day adds eight U.S. Supreme Court clerks from the October 2022 Term

The Firm has announced the addition of eight former U.S. Supreme Court clerks from the October 2022 Term to the Issues & Appeals Practice as associates. Jones Day has recruited 86 U.S. Supreme Court clerks since the October 2011 Term.

"These eight lawyers have already distinguished themselves as U.S. Supreme Court clerks," said Traci L. Lovitt, leader of the Firm's Issues & Appeals Practice. "Their demonstrated knowledge of the law augmented with their Supreme Court experience enhances our practice’s already formidable team."

The new arrivals, the Justices for whom they clerked, their law schools, prior clerkships, and previous roles are as follows:

• Bijan M. Aboutorabi clerked for Justice Clarence Thomas and graduated from the University of Chicago Law School. Prior to his Supreme Court clerkship, Mr. Aboutorabi was a Judicial Clerk for Hon. James L. “Jay” Mitchell, Supreme Court of Alabama (2021-2022); an associate at a law firm in Arlington, Virginia (2020-2021); a Judicial Clerk for Hon. Amul R. Thapar, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit (2019-2020); and Hon. William H. Pryor Jr., U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit (2018-2019).
• Timothy J. Bradley clerked for Justice Amy Coney Barrett and graduated from the University of Notre Dame Law School. Prior to his Supreme Court clerkship, Mr. Bradley was a Judicial Clerk for Hon. Jeffrey S. Sutton, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit (2021–2022); and Hon. Steven M. Colloton, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit (2020–2021).
• John C. Brinkerhoff, Jr., clerked for Justice Samuel A. Alito, Jr., and graduated from Yale Law School. Prior to his Supreme Court clerkship, Mr. Brinkerhoff was an associate at a law firm in Washington, D.C. (2021-2022); a Judicial Clerk for Hon. Gregory G. Katsas, U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit (2020-2021); Hon. William H. Pryor Jr., U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit (2019-2020); and Hon. Diane S. Sykes, U. S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit (2018-2019).
• Henry J. Dickman clerked for Justice Amy Coney Barrett and graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law. Prior to his Supreme Court clerkship, Mr. Dickman was a Judicial Clerk for Hon. Gregory G. Katsas, U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit (2021-2022); Hon. Diane S. Sykes, U. S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit (2020-2021); and Hon. Amy Coney Barrett, U. S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit (August 2020 – October 2020).
• Emily M. Hall clerked for Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh and graduated from Yale Law School. Prior to her Supreme Court clerkship, she was a Judicial Clerk for Hon. Amul R. Thapar, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit (2021-2022).
• Daniel P. Johnson clerked for Justice Amy Coney Barrett and graduated from Harvard Law School. Prior to his Supreme Court clerkship, Mr. Johnson was an associate at a law firm in Washington, D.C. (2021-2022); a Judicial Clerk for Hon. Laurence H. Silberman, United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit (2020–2021); and Hon. Julius N. Richardson, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, (2019-2020).
• Christopher Pagliarella clerked for Justice Samuel A. Alito, Jr., and graduated from Yale Law School. Prior to his Supreme Court clerkship, Mr. Pagliarella was a Visiting Clinical Lecturer at Yale Law School and counsel at a public interest law firm (2019-2022); an associate at Jones Day (2017-2019); and a Judicial Clerk for Hon. Thomas M. Hardiman, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit (2016-2017).
• David Kenneth Suska clerked for Justice Neil M. Gorsuch and graduated from the University of Chicago Law School. Prior to his Supreme Court clerkship, Mr. Suska was an attorney at the Office of Legal Counsel, U.S. Department of Justice (2019-2022); an associate at a law firm in Washington, D.C. (2017-2019); and a Judicial Clerk for Hon. Frank H. Easterbrook, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit (2016-2017).
