Potash Corporation acquires 9.5 percent stake in Fertilizantes Heringer

Jones Day advised the Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan, Inc. in its acquisition of a 9.5 percent stake in Fertilizantes Heringer S.A., a leading producer and distributor of fertilizer in Brazil, whose shares are publicly traded on the Novo Mercado segment of the BM&FBovespa. The shares in Heringer were acquired from its controlling shareholders for US$55.7 million and Potash is also benefiting from a shareholders agreement between the parties. Potash has also executed a long term potash supply agreement that will allow Potash to become Heringer's principal supplier.
