Cleveland successfully prepares for Republican National Convention, including resolving ACLU lawsuit

Jones Day was engaged to represent the City of Cleveland in preparation for the Republican National Convention held in Cleveland from July 18-21, 2016. Jones Day assisted the City in preparing parade regulations and in planning for the permit process in advance of the Convention. In these efforts, Jones Day helped to provide coordination between public safety, federal law enforcement, transportation, and other city agencies, as well as engaging with civil rights organizations. Jones Day also represented the City in federal litigation seeking to overturn the parade regulations and successfully negotiated a resolution to the lawsuit. The Firm also provided advice and assistance to the City on First Amendment training and obtained the assistance of Case Western Reserve and Cleveland State law schools in producing a series of "Know Your Rights" videos for prospective demonstrators. Finally, Jones Day assisted the City in obtaining insurance coverage for professional liability to cover law enforcement officers during the Convention.
