Pain practice obtains favorable resolution of civil investigation

Jones Day successfully represented a pain management practice in obtaining a favorable settlement and dismissal of a False Claims Act case by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Virginia. The matter initially arose from a qui tam action filed by a former employee of the clinic alleging violations of Medicare billing rules, the Anti-Kickback Statute, and the Stark Law. The Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General did not seek ongoing integrity obligations from the practice.
