U.S. Bank defends patent infringement claims involving gift cards sold in shopping malls
Client(s) U.S. Bank National Association
Jones Day is defending U.S. Bank National Association in two related patent infringement disputes initially brought by AlexSam, Inc. related to prepaid gift cards sold in Simon shopping malls. Simon filed a third-party complaint seeking defense and indemnity from U.S. Bank. Jones Day successfully transferred AlexSam's case against our client from the Eastern District of Texas to the Southern District of Ohio for improper venue. We also convinced the district court to enforce the forum selection clause and transfer Simon's third-party complaint to the Southern District of New York.
