Med-Trans defeats class certification concerning air ambulance billing
Client(s) Global Medical Response, Inc.
Jones Day obtained complete denial of class certification in a putative consumer class action brought against Global Medical Response, Inc. subsidiary Med-Trans Corporation ("Med-Trans"), which is part of a network of life-saving emergency air transport carriers. Plaintiffs brought claims on behalf of a putative class of consumers in South Carolina asserting that Med-Trans charged improper fees for its services. After extensive briefing and a hearing, the federal district judge ruled that individualized, factual questions precluded certification of the proposed classes.
