Jones Day Chicago develops relationship with the Civic Consulting Alliance

Client(s) Civic Consulting Alliance (CCA)

In 2011, the Chicago Office began a relationship with the Civic Consulting Alliance ("CCA"), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that reshapes how Chicago works by building pro bono teams comprised of business and legal experts, government leaders, and its own staff to work on discrete projects designed to make the city, county, and other parts of the state more livable, affordable, and globally competitive. CCA offers unique opportunities for the Firm to work with Chicago businesses (many of them existing clients) and public agencies and officials during a period of historic transformation.

Jones Day Chicago has made a substantial commitment to CCA and its projects by donating over $1 million in lawyers' time, staff's time, and expenses. We have worked with CCA on several projects to date, including: (1) advising CCA on a project relating to human-resources policies and the Fair Labor Standards Act; (2) advising CCA on a project with the Office of Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel seeking to restructure the process by which Chicago promotes, attracts, and supports tourism; and (3) working with CCA, Mayor Emanuel's office, and the Mayor's Ethics Reform Task Force to revamp the city's ethics laws.
