Huawei gets patent infringement claims by SmartPhone Technologies dismissed

Client(s) Huawei Device USA, Inc.

Jones Day defended Huawei Device USA, Inc. against patent infringement claims in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas in an eight patent case involving telecommunications systems and device patents. The case was filed by well known U.S. patent troll Acacia and settled on the eve of trial. By the time of trial, Jones Day had obtained the dismissal of claims relating to five of the eight patents and persuaded the Court to strike the original opinions of plaintiff's damages expert.
