Google defends Gmail against European telecommunication regulation

Jones Day represented Google LLC against the German telecommunications regulatory agency in administrative court proceedings concerning the obligation to notify Gmail as an Electronic Communication Service (ECS). The appellate administrative court referred to the European Court of Justice (ECJ) and the proceedings concluded successfully for Google with the result that Gmail is not considered an ECS.
