Senior officer of company defends against cross-border securities class action in U.S. and Canada

Jones Day represented a senior officer of Royal Group Technologies Inc. in a cross-border securities class action brought in the U.S. and Canada against the company and several officers alleging disclosure violations under U.S. securities laws concerning the company's performance and alleged self-dealing. The defendants moved to dismiss the claims, and the litigation was dismissed on forum non conveniens grounds. The claims were later refiled with an amended complaint, the defendants again moved to dismiss, and the case settled before that motion was decided.
