Jason Chen's practice focuses on commercial law, intellectual property, and arbitration. With almost a decade as serving as a Taipei District Court judge, he has significant experience in civil and criminal trials and enforcement. Notably, he was the first intellectual property professional judge certified by the Judicial Yuan. Since 2004, Jason has led Jones Day Taipei's litigation team, managing diverse commercial, intellectual property, and arbitration cases. Since January 1, 2017, he has served as the Partner-in-Charge of the Taipei Office.
Jason's notable cases include representing a prominent petrochemical company in Taiwan's highest-value patent infringement lawsuit (exceeding US$100 million), with a significant win. He also handled cases involving the highest-value trade secret litigation (more than US$50 million) and rare hostile takeover-related litigations for leading domestic financial holding and semiconductor companies. In addition, he successfully represented a listed domestic company in arbitration exceeding US$200 million, securing significant wins in the history of Taiwan arbitration. Jason adeptly handles fair trade law, enforcement, product liability, white collar crimes, insider trading, and various civil and criminal litigations.
Since October 2005, Jason has co-chaired AmCham Taiwan's Property Protection and Licensing Committee, actively contributing to their annual white papers and advising government departments on intellectual property and trade. Jason acts as a vital liaison between AmCham's member companies, the Taiwan Intellectual Property Office, the Ministry of Justice, and the Judicial Yuan.
Recognized by international legal media, Jason's in-depth understanding and extensive experience in commercial litigation and intellectual property have positioned him as a highly recommended professional in these fields. He is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Taiwanese Hokkien.
