Parth Matalia's practice is concentrated on intellectual property litigation, with a primary focus on International Trade Commission (ITC) investigations in addition to trade secret and patent litigation in federal district and appellate courts. Parth's litigation experience spans a variety of technologies across multiple industries ranging from mechanical devices to filament LED technology.

Parth also has experience working closely with experts in various fields of technology through all stages of litigation. He has experience in fact discovery, prelitigation strategy, motions practice, trial practice, and post-trial practice. Parth's practice includes litigating patent issues at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit where he has experience in crafting effective arguments in briefing.

  • Velodyne defeats trade secret misappropriation claims at ITC and District CourtJones Day successfully defended leading lidar developer Velodyne Lidar USA, Inc. against trade secret misappropriation claims in the International Trade Commission and U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, resulting in Complainant voluntarily withdrawing its Complaint and terminating the ITC investigation, and dismissing its district court claims with prejudice.
  • Ricoh granted summary judgment of non-infringement in patent case relating to office and production printer technologyOn behalf of Ricoh USA, Inc., Jones Day obtained an order granting a motion for summary judgment of non-infringement on the five remaining patents in a case originally involving 19 patents relating to both hardware and software aspects of office and production printer technology.
  • Specialty engineered woods manufacturer reaches settlement in trade secret and supply agreement disputeJones Day represented an industry leader in the manufacture of specialty engineered wood products in a lawsuit against a supplier involving allegations of misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of contract, tortious interference, and unfair competition.
