Joe Shell serves clients in resolving complex commercial, insurance, and antitrust litigation in state and federal courts. He has defended clients in cases alleging violations under the Sherman Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), as well as cases related to public nuisance and breach of contract claims. Joe has also represented clients in responding to federal government investigations.

Joe has experience litigating appeals, summary judgment, preliminary injunctions, pretrial motions, discovery disputes, and in preparing witnesses for depositions (both individual and corporate). As a former state supreme court clerk, Joe is a skilled writer and oral advocate; he has successfully argued cases as lead counsel at the Supreme Court of Ohio, Ohio's intermediate courts of appeals, and federal trial courts.

Joe maintains an active pro bono practice, working with LGBTQ+ advocacy groups, representing tenants in housing court, and litigating criminal appeals. He is an adjunct professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where he teaches appellate practice and coaches the school's mock trial team.
