Uma Sharma's practice is focused on international arbitration, investigations, and cross-border disputes.
Her recent experience includes acting for an international bank in a major investigation of serious regulatory compliance breaches; enforcing arbitral awards on behalf of a large multinational against award debtor assets in multiple jurisdictions, including obtaining worldwide freezing orders and receivership orders; and successfully dismissing challenges to two arbitration awards under the UK Arbitration Act in favor of a leading Korean shipyard.
Prior to joining Jones Day in 2023, Uma practiced at a top-tier Singapore law firm with a senior counsel and advised on complex, cross-border litigation matters at all levels of the Singapore Courts including insolvency, trusts, arbitration, and corporate disputes. With stints at the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) in Washington, D.C. and at the National University of Singapore Centre for International Law, Uma has a breadth of experience working on cutting-edge international commercial and investor-state arbitration matters.
