Nick J.Bagnolo

Nick Bagnolo focuses his practice on intellectual property, with a primary focus on patent litigation. Nick has represented clients across a wide range of technologies, including medical devices, tire compounds, industrial lifting and relocation equipment, and DNA sequencing technology. He has represented clients in district court litigation and inter partes review (IPR) proceedings, with experience in pre-filing investigations, discovery, various aspects of claim construction, and general motion practice.

Nick previously worked as a patent agent, and later an associate attorney, for a boutique patent prosecution firm, prosecuting patents in diverse fields of technology. He leverages his experience in drafting and prosecuting patents before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to provide clients with a wide range of tools for enforcing or protecting their patents. In addition to his patent prosecution experience, Nick has handled other intellectual property matters including trademark prosecution, trademark licensing, trademark enforcement and litigation, and copyright protection and litigation. His experience handling different types of intellectual property matters provides Nick with a unique and well-rounded perspective when counseling and advising clients on managing their intellectual property portfolios.

Prior to joining Jones Day, Nick served as a law clerk to a judge on the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, where he exclusively handled complex patent infringement cases against the U.S. government. As a law clerk, Nick assisted in preparing for, and attended, numerous oral hearings on patent infringement disputes, including multiple claim construction hearings, invalidity challenges, and discovery disputes.
