Jones Day partner Shireen Matthews named by San Diego Business Journal to "Business Women of the Year" list

Jones Day partner Shireen Matthews was named to the San Diego Business Journal's 2024 "Business Women of the Year" list. Those honored are "dynamic women business leaders who have contributed significantly to San Diego's workplaces and communities."

Ms. Matthews is a former federal prosecutor who now assists clients with internal and government investigations, and counsels companies on maintaining and building compliance programs. An experienced civil litigator, she represents businesses and executives facing complex, and often enterprise-threatening, litigation. Recently, Ms. Matthews  successfully defended a regional healthcare provider, resulting in the dismissal of all charges with prejudice.

An engaged community leader, Ms. Matthews is committed to public service and serving pro bono clients. As a member of the Board of Trustees for Scripps Health in San Diego, she chairs the Audit and Compliance Committee. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego (2021-present) and the San Diego Federal Bar Association Foundation (2022-present). She is the administrative partner for the San Diego Office and is a member of the Firm's Diversity, Inclusion and Advancement Committee.
