Blackmagic defends against patent infringement suit

Jones Day has been retained by Blackmagic Design Pty Ltd. to defend the company in a six-patent infringement suit initiated by Technology Licensing Corporation ("TLC"). Jones Day has previously represented numerous defendants against TLC in patent infringement actions. The case was filed in the Northern District of Illinois in June 2013; Jones Day obtained a transfer to the Northern District of California in October 2013, where the case has since been pending. TLC asserts U.S. Patent Nos. 5,920,842, RE40,411 E, RE40,412 E, 6,870,964, 7,382,929, and 7,986,851, which TLC contends cover technology related to synchronization of video signals and video image enhancement. Blackmagic is one of the world's leading innovators and manufacturers of creative video technology. The accused Blackmagic products include processors, converters, routers, etc.
