Los Angeles MTA defeats wage and hour class action lawsuit
Client(s) Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority
Jones Day successfully defended the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority in a hybrid class and collective action wage and hour lawsuit filed by Nathan Flowers, a former bus driver, alleging failure to comply with state and federal wage and hour laws. Flowers sought to certify a proposed class of more than 7,000 current and former bus and train operators. The court sustained the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's demurrer to three out of four claims. Flowers subsequently voluntarily dismissed the only remaining claim for violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
