Los Angeles County Blue Ribbon Commission on Child Protection issues report

Beong-Soo Kim, Brian Hershman, Fred Friedman, Harriet Leva, Dan Lynch, Jessica Sawyer, and Andrew Dubin, all of Los Angeles, have been serving as pro bono counsel to the Los Angeles County Blue Ribbon Commission on Child Protection. The Commission was created by the Board of Supervisors last June in the wake of several child fatalities, and was charged with coming up with systemic solutions to better protect abused and neglected children. With assistance from Jones Day and retired partner Brian O'Neill (who served as the Commission's general counsel), the Commission reviewed thousands of documents, and conducted numerous public hearings and interviews with stakeholders. On April 18, the Commission issued its widely publicized Final Report, detailing its findings and proposing sweeping reforms of the system. The report is available at www.blueribboncommissionla.com.
