University conducts internal review of Institutional Review Board
Client(s) University
Jones Day conducted an internal review and assessment of the policies, procedures and practices of a university's Institutional Review Board (IRB) for human subject research. We reviewed and advised on whether such policies, procedures and practices were effective in promoting compliance with the federal Common Rule and other applicable regulations and requirements with respect to both biomedical and social-behavioral research. During the course of the review, Jones Day provided specific guidance with respect to IRB membership and oversight, and allocation of university resources to IRB functions based on the university's current research portfolio and anticipated expansion of its undergraduate and graduate research programs.
