Scientific Games defeats challenge to Ohio Lottery Commission contract award
Client(s) Scientific Games Corporation
Following a four-day bench trial, Jones Day won a sweeping victory on behalf of Scientific Games Corporation in a public contract dispute. After an RFP process, the Ohio Lottery Commission awarded Scientific Games a multi-year contract worth approximately $50 million to help run Ohio's instant ticket lottery. The unsuccessful bidder, Intralot, Inc., filed suit to enjoin the contract award, alleging improprieties in the public procurement process. In the span of four months, Jones Day filed a successful motion to intervene, covered a dozen depositions, filed a motion for summary judgment that narrowed the issues in the case, and tried the case to verdict. The court entered judgment in favor of Scientific Games and the Lottery Commission on all claims.
