Alex Alvarez focuses his practice on private equity, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate governance matters. He advises clients on a broad range of corporate transactions, including private and public merger transactions, acquisitions, investments, divestitures, joint ventures, and restructurings.

Prior to joining Jones Day in 2023, Alex practiced at an international law firm where he advised private equity and corporate clients on M&A, securities, and other corporate matters. Alex also served as a law clerk in the Miami office of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission while in law school.

Before beginning his legal career, Alex was an investment banking analyst at JPMorgan Chase in the leveraged finance group. At JPMorgan, Alex worked with private equity and corporate clients to raise debt capital to finance M&A transactions, refinance existing debt, and achieve other strategic goals for clients.
