Alex Exact practices litigation with a focus on complex intellectual property (IP) disputes.
Recent High Court experience includes representing a leading aerospace company in an account of profits following a finding of patent infringement; acting for a developer in copyright litigation relating to video games; advising a software client in proceedings concerning the alleged misappropriation and copying of source code; and defending a technology client in patent infringement proceedings in the field of wireless communications.
Alex has additional experience litigating before the United Kingdom's Intellectual Property Office Tribunal as well as the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court (IPEC). He frequently advises on investigations, as well as on claims that involve elements of conspiracy and bad faith. Alex has acted in various appeals before the Court of Appeal covering subjects such as the scope of the United Kingdom's unjustified threats regime and the contractual interpretation of licensing and other agreements.
Alex is studying for a postgraduate diploma in intellectual property law at the University of Oxford and is a member of the British Literary and Artistic Copyright Association (BLACA).
