Kambarang Spring Sundowner at Jones Day's Perth Office

Perth Office

The Firm's Perth Office recently hosted its annual "Spring Sundowner" client event to mark the Noongar season "Kambarang," represented by the colour yellow and symbolizing the return of hot weather and the transformation of native flora.

Jack Collard, Australia's Global Ambassador to Indigenous Affairs, opened the event by giving a moving speech in Noongar about his people's close connection with the land around Perth and playing the Didgeridoo. Michael Lundberg, a former Jones Day partner who was recently appointed judge of the Supreme Court of Western Australia, spoke of the continuing contribution of the Noongar people to the recognized culture of the nation and land. In light of his new appointment, Judge Lundberg also acknowledged his longstanding legal team and the contributions of many of his previous colleagues to his legal career over the years. Adam Salter, Perth Office Partner-in-Charge, wrapped up the formal part of the evening on behalf of the Perth Office partners. Mr. Salter spoke about the Firm's global presence and capabilities, thanked our clients for their support, and presented Michael Lundberg with a gavel to thank him for his service with the Firm and wish him all the best for his future on the bench.

The annual event was attended by more than 60 guests from large multinational companies with operations in Australia across diverse industries including energy, mining, financial services, manufacturing, and construction.
