Jonathan Bakker focuses on international commercial arbitration and litigation. He acts as counsel and advises on a range of commercial disputes, including M&A and corporate litigation disputes and injunctive relief proceedings.
Jonathan is a seasoned commercial litigator. He has in-depth experience in liability law, particularly in the areas of professional liability, product liability, and contractual liability. He also regularly teaches legal courses at law schools and publishes on liability law issues.
In addition, Jonathan has extensive experience in procedural law, which encompasses evidentiary law and private international law issues, and asset recovery, including disputes related to attachment of property. Prior to joining Jones Day in 2023, Jonathan acted as counsel for Spirits in its multijurisdictional dispute with the Russian Federation regarding the ownership of the world famous Stoli and Moskovskaya vodka brands. He also successfully enforced arbitral awards in the Netherlands against foreign states, including Kazakhstan, Iran, and India.
