Jim Caserio handles complex commercial real estate transactions, real estate finance, joint ventures and development, and loan restructurings and workouts. He regularly advises clients in connection with the acquisition and disposition of multifamily, student housing, active adult housing, single-family rental, retail, mixed-use, office, and hotel properties as well as the formation of joint ventures. In addition, he has in-depth experience with mortgage, construction, and mezzanine loan transactions and with revolving credit facilities, private placement financings, and subscription credit facilities.
Prior to joining Jones Day in 2024, Jim handled the approximately $3.6 billion sale of a 30-property U.S. multifamily housing portfolio for an institutional real estate owner. He has also represented institutional real estate owners and developers on construction loans for multifamily housing projects throughout the United States and the acquisition of numerous multifamily housing, student housing, and single-family rental projects.
Jim represented a publicly traded REIT (real estate investment trust) in the multibillion dollar acquisition of another publicly traded REIT, which included more than $1 billion in new mortgage loans. He has also represented publicly traded REITS on acquisitions, dispositions, and developments of shopping center properties located throughout the United States and Central and South America; in the development of a large mixed-use property that included retail, multifamily, hotel, and office components; and in connection with revolving credit facilities, term loan facilities, and private placement financings.
In addition, he has represented a privately held hotel owner on acquisitions of hotel properties and related joint ventures with institutional investors.
