Scott Edson is a first-chair appellate lawyer who represents clients in all stages of complex and multidistrict litigation from initial pleadings, through discovery, trial, and appeal to state courts of last resort and the United States Supreme Court. He has extensive jury trial experience, including in dozens of Engle progeny tobacco cases in Florida state courts. He has obtained dispositive relief for clients (pre- and post-trial), helped obtain defense verdicts, and prosecuted successful appeals.

Prior to joining Jones Day in 2022, Scott obtained many favorable outcomes for clients, including obtaining affirmance of dismissal of putative consumer fraud and ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act) class actions; successfully appealing federal money laundering convictions, resulting in a judgment of acquittal; defeating burdensome discovery under the "apex" doctrine; coauthoring briefs in successful patent appeals; successfully arguing in a state court of last resort; and obtaining appellate relief that reversed judgments totaling tens of millions of dollars.

Scott is a frequent writer and lecturer on various aspects of law and legal practice, including brief writing and argument, trial strategies, and the impact of COVID-19 on litigation. He has been invited to speak at the Florida Conference of Circuit Judges. Effective 2022, the Chief Justice of the Florida Supreme Court appointed Scott to the Florida Civil Jury Instruction Committee.
