Bill Kao's practice focuses on general dispute resolution, primarily involving construction disputes, contract disputes, white collar crime defense, and corporate internal investigations.
Bill is adept at resolving civil disputes in Taiwan. Since joining Jones Day, Bill has dealt with an array of contractual and tort claims, with a distinct focus on construction disputes. His work in construction has encompassed diverse projects, from sewage systems to power plant expansions. The clients Bill provides legal services for, including a Swiss energy company, a U.S. produce exporter, and a Taiwanese construction firm, operate across diverse industries and jurisdictions.
Bill also has been a team member in the defense of chairpersons of Taiwanese publicly listed companies, ranging from insurance to electronic components manufacturing, in criminal cases involving allegations of financial misstatements, irregular transactions, and breaches of trust..
Additionally, Bill has experience assisting clients with internal investigations involving transportation, pharmaceuticals, and energy. He has assisted in investigations addressing a wide range of issues such as anticorruption laws, antitrust laws, and localization requirements.
