Nick Morin represents distressed companies and their lenders in connection with in-court and out-of-court funded debt and operational restructurings. Nick has worked on distressed financings, distressed acquisitions, complex bankruptcy litigation, and other chapter 11 and insolvency-related matters. Nick's experience involves workouts of direct lending/private credit loans, in addition to more broadly syndicated debt instruments. He regularly advises companies and debtholders on liability management strategies and risks.

Nick has represented significant creditor groups in various restructurings, including creditors of: Intelsat ($15 billion restructured), Syncreon ($1 billion restructured), Sungard AS ($1.2 billion restructured), David's Bridal ($800 million restructured), and Bon-Ton ($125 million credit bid).

In addition, Nick has represented many companies in distressed situations, including: Diebold Nixdorf ($2.7 billion restructured), Peabody Energy ($8 billion restructured), M&G USA Corporation ($1 billion sale), and Rex Energy ($600 million sale).

Nick has received multiple awards and distinctions throughout his career. In 2024, Nick and others from Jones Day received awards for their groundbreaking work in the Diebold Nixdorf matter, which was the first-ever debt restructuring completed through a chapter 11 plan and Dutch Scheme. The awards included the "Restructuring Deal of the Year (Over $1B)" from the International M&A Awards and the "2024 Turnaround/Transaction: International Company" from the Turnaround Management Association. Nick has also been recognized in Best Lawyers in America, "Ones to Watch" for 2023 and 2024.
