Michael Neumeier is an Australian qualified disputes lawyer with significant international experience. His practice focuses on international arbitration and litigation. Prior to joining Jones Day in 2023, Michael gained experience as a research fellow at a leading German University, in private practice for a Magic Circle law firm in Germany and Australia, and most recently at the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Paris, France.
Michael was a deputy counsel at the Secretariat of the International Court of Arbitration for four years. In this role, he administered several hundred arbitrations involving disputes between private companies, states and/or state entities, and individuals. These arbitrations covered a broad range of industry sectors including construction, energy, mining, and transport, and mostly had connection to the DACH (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland), BENELUX (Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg), and Scandinavian regions, which his team was responsible for. He administered these arbitrations in both German and English.
