Lucinda Ower assists clients with the management and resolution of their complex commercial disputes.
Lucinda has experience in mediation and in cross-border arbitration and litigation. Lucinda's experience is exclusively with high-value, complex contractual disputes, most often in the construction and infrastructure space, which regularly involves statutory misleading and deceptive conduct, tort, and equitable overlays. She also has experience in the project and group insurance space, in both claims management and claims resolution.
Lucinda has acted as project counsel as a secondee to a major international entity responsible for the construction and operation of high-volume road and tunnel networks during a critical build phase of an AUD$7 billion+ project, as well as experience in the resolution of an AUD$500 million defects claim involving the preparation of lay and expert evidence, document analysis, the preparation of critical subpoena applications, closing submissions, and hearing.
Lucinda also advises on post-M&A disputes and has a keen interest and understanding of the strategy demanded by clients to deliver the best legal, commercial, and reputational outcomes possible.
Lucinda also has experience in the Federal Court of Australia, the New South Wales Supreme Court, the New South Wales Court of Appeal, and in multiparty mediations.
Lucinda has a particular interest in leveraging legal technology to streamline team efforts and client returns on investment.
Prior to joining Jones Day, Lucinda received the Pro-Bono Lawyer of the Year Award (2021) from a top-tier Australian law firm.
