David Kenneth Suska briefs and argues complex legal issues at the trial and appellate stages. He represents individuals and businesses, including some of the world's leading energy, financial, and life sciences companies. He also helps clients assess and navigate complex regulatory environments.
David's practice brings to bear extensive experience in government. Before joining Jones Day, David served as a law clerk to Justice Neil M. Gorsuch of the Supreme Court of the United States and Judge Frank H. Easterbrook of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. He also served as an Attorney-Adviser in the Office of Legal Counsel of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). In that role, David reviewed executive orders for form and legality, scrutinized pending legislation for constitutional concerns, and guided the White House, Attorney General, and executive departments and agencies through complex issues relating to national security and war powers, the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, immigration, international trade and sanctions, congressional oversight, and many other areas of federal law. For his work at DOJ, David received the Attorney General's Distinguished Service Award. Before becoming a lawyer, David served as an analyst at the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), where he prepared strategic assessments for the President and other senior officials. For his work at CIA, David received the Sherman Kent Leadership Award.
