Iacopo Zonca advises on EU product compliance matters, focusing on EU chemicals regulation, as well as litigation before the European Union and national courts.
Since 2019, Iacopo has counseled clients on EU chemical matters, such as the renewal of approval of active substances under the Plant Protection Products Regulation, the classification of industrial products under the CLP Regulation (classification, labelling, and packaging), and the review of authorizations under the REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) Regulation.
Iacopo also advises clients on issues related to the ongoing EU REACH PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) restriction proposals (e.g., applications for derogations). He is also involved in the management of REACH consortia.
He has supported clients in complex contractual negotiations and data-sharing disputes under the REACH Regulation, the Plant Protection Products Regulation, and the Biocidal Products Regulation.
Iacopo has extensive litigation experience before EU and national courts. Notably, he has represented global pesticide manufacturers in actions for annulment before the EU General Court as well as in appeals before the EU Court of Justice. Iacopo has also handled EU law enforcement cases before national competent authorities and courts in Italy.
In the EU product law area, he advises on product safety issues in relation to consumer and non-consumer products (electronics, food contact materials, packaging, F-gases).
