Prisoner represented in action alleging cruel and unusual punishment
Client(s) Watson, Nyles Lawyne
Jones Day's Matt Silveira and Caroline Mitchell of the San Francisco office were appointed to represent Nyles Lawayne Watson, an inmate at California State Prison – Solano, in connection with a civil rights lawsuit against several of the prison's physicians. Watson alleges that the physicians' failure to provide him with timely and adequate medical treatment for his spinal condition resulted in chronic pain and reduced mobility, and decreased the likelihood for successful surgical intervention. Watson contends that the physicians' deliberate indifference to his serious medical needs constitutes cruel and unusual punishment in violation of the Eighth Amendment.
