ARJEL, France's new online gambling authority, receives regulatory law advice
Client(s) Autorité de Régulation des Jeux en Ligne (ARJEL)
Jones Day is among the law firms selected by ARJEL (Autorité de Régulation des Jeux en Ligne), the new French online gambling control authority, to provide regulatory advice and other legal services. Jones Day will advise ARJEL in the area of administrative law, particularly with respect to applications for registration; competition law; institutional EU law; and banking and finance law.
Following the enactment of the law on online games on April 6, 2010, three new gambling activities are now authorized on the internet: horse betting, sports betting, and poker. ARJEL, an independent administrative authority, was created by the government to control and provide a framework for these online games.
