Jones Day advised Georgia Gulf Corporation in the successful defense against a $1.6 billion unsolicited bid by Westlake Chemical Corporation to acquire all the outstanding shares of the company.
On January 16, 2012, Georgia Gulf Corporation announced that its Board of Directors had rejected Westlake Chemical Corporation's unsolicited proposal and adopted a stockholder rights plan.
On May 4, Westlake withdrew its unsolicited bid.
