Jones Day prevails at trial and obtains permanent restraining order for victim of domestic violence

Jones Day client JA, a 25 year-old mother of two, sought a permanent restraining order against her ex-fiancé, following repeated threats of violence by respondent against JA. As part of the ADVOCATE partnership with the Los Angeles Center for Law and Justice, Jones Day represented JA at her permanent restraining order trial. On March 18, 2013, after hearing compelling testimony from JA and her mother, the Hon. Patrick Cathcart granted JA’s request for a three-year restraining order and further granted full custody of their six year old daughter to JA. The Court also agreed with JA's requested visitation schedule. The client is extremely grateful to Jones Day and the Los Angeles Center of Law and Justice for their assistance.
