Port Autonome d'Abidjan awards concession for Port of Abidjan's Second Containers Terminal

Jones Day advised the Côte d'Ivoire state company Port Autonome d'Abidjan (PAA) on the 21-year concession for the Second Containers Terminal (TC2) of the Port of Abidjan. After an international tender process, this concession was awarded to a consortium comprising APM Terminals, Bolloré Africa Logistics and Bouygues Travaux Publics. The concession agreement, signed on 19 December 2013 in Abidjan, includes a EUR 120 million entry fee, EUR 22 million annual fee and provides for an initial investment by the concessionaire of around EUR 250 million. This new terminal is set to become the main port hub for maritime transshipment traffic on the Atlantic side of Africa.
