Electrolux attempts acquisition of GE appliances business

Client(s) AB Electrolux

Jones Day represented Swedish appliance maker AB Electrolux as antitrust and labor counsel in its attempted $3.3 billion acquisition of the appliances business of General Electric. The matter involved a lengthy antitrust investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice and four weeks of trial, in defense of the DOJ's lawsuit to block the transaction. The trial ended just before closing arguments when GE decided to withdraw from the deal.
