Horizon Air victorious in wage rate interest arbitration

Client(s) Horizon Air Industries, Inc.

Jones Day successfully represented Horizon Air Industries, Inc. in a wage rate interest arbitration involving their mechanics, represented by the Teamsters union. The parties participated in a binding "baseball style" arbitration where the arbitrator had to choose either party's last, best, and final offer, without modification. The arbitrator ruled in favor of Horizon, finding that there were no compelling reasons that would justify a change to the wage rates in the current CBA, which was what Horizon had proposed. Thus, the wage rates negotiated in the existing agreement remain in effect today.
