Jones Day represented an individual facing potential felony charges for unlawful export and fraud in connection with a federal grand jury investigation. Following a presentation to the Assistant United States Attorney, the government agreed to allow the individual to plead guilty to a misdemeanor with a sentence of conditional discharge. During negotiations of the plea agreement, the defense successfully challenged the government’s loss calculation for restitution and the individual was not required to pay restitution under the agreement.
