Round Table Conference: Global Perspective on the World
Jones Day's Tokyo Office recently hosted a roundtable conference entitled "Global Perspective on the World" which was co-sponsored by the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren) in Tokyo and featured the following Jones Day lawyers:
- Donald F. McGahn II, former White House Counsel to U.S. President Donald J. Trump and head of Jones Day's Government Regulation Practice, provided an overview of the U.S. electoral system in the context of the upcoming U.S. presidential election and the central issues at stake, including potential impacts on Japan.
- Noel J. Francisco, former Solicitor General of the United States and Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day's Washington D.C. Office, discussed how the presidential election could impact the composition of the federal judiciary and the critical role of federal courts on elections, federal laws and regulations, and social issues in the United States.
- Angel Huang, Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day's Mainland China offices, presented on recent trends in China's cross border investments and China's foreign investment reforms. She also highlighted key areas of China's U.S. investments and increased regulatory scrutiny of these investments, which could impact Japanese investors.
- Finally, Stephen J. Brogan, former Managing Partner of the Firm, offered a global perspective on the presentation topics and fielded questions from the audience.
Hiromitsu Miyakawa, Partner-in-Charge of the Tokyo Office, and Chris Ahern, the Firm's Japan Partner-in-Charge, made opening and closing remarks at the event. Of counsel Tadakatsu Sano moderated the roundtable.
